Parts Of A Junior Excavator
In construction sites, excavators are very familiar sights. There are many types and sizes of excavators, or diggers as they are often referred to. They are often used for digging trenches, holes or foundations. They are also used to lift heavy construction materials from one area to another, demolish structures, landscape, river dredging and even in mining operations. Generally, these machines are created in order to move large amounts of soil and earth within the shortest span of time. Depending on their use, excavators are categorized in different sizes. A smaller type is often called a mini or junior excavator. The larger ones, on the other hand, are called different names depending on their feature or brand. The general types of excavators are as follows: compact excavator, dragline excavator, bucket-wheel excavator, long-reach excavator, long front excavator, and hydraulic or hydro excavator.
A junior excavator is also referred to as a compact hydraulic excavator because its mechanism and its movements are controlled by hydraulic fluid contained in hydraulic cylinders. In order for the parts of the junior excavator to be moved or changed, the operator would have to control them through the motors that are powered by hydraulic fluid. This sets this excavator type apart from the others. In addition, a junior excavator consists of three main parts which are the house, undercarriage and the work group. The house is that part of a junior excavator which includes the operator, hydraulic pump, engine compartment and the distribution components. This part is connected to the undercarriage structure through a swing bearing and this part moves whenever the junior excavator turns. This is where the operator is seated so that he can see the progress of the construction project clearly. The undercarriage, on the other hand, connects both the house structure and the work group. This is where the drive sprockets, rubber or steel tracks, idlers, rollers and other similar components could be found. This is considered as the core of this construction equipment. Lastly, the work group is that part of the junior excavator that has a boom, dipper and an attachment. Commonly, the attachment is a bucket where soil materials are placed after it is dug. This is connected to the house structure through a swing frame that allows it to be moved to the left or to the right through the hydraulic motor. Most excavators of this type are also equipped with a backfill blade which is used for leveling, backfilling and adjusting digging depth and dumping height of the machine.
Due to its size, a junior excavator is often used in residential areas for projects such as digging phone lines, new home construction, home remodeling and farming operations. It is also a popular choice for plumbers who dig water and sewer lines for the purpose of repair. It is also easier to operate compared to the larger excavators since it has a lower weight and smaller size. Moreover, due to the popularity of the junior excavator, several toy companies have created a toy version of this construction machine for little boys to maneuver. Just like the real thing, the junior excavator ride-on can scoop, load and unload different materials.
